Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wes Ekwall (ranked 1260 p4p, 1157 weight class) and Mike Boomer (ranked 40 p4p, 29 weight class). Ekwall comes to the cage accompanied by Enter the Sandman. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boomer misses with a two punch combination.
Ekwall jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ekwall looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Boomer showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ekwall.
Boomer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ekwall.
Ekwall takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Ekwall swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Boomer thinks about the counter body kick.
Ekwall misses with a double jab
and Boomer counters with a nice uppercut.
A telegraphed right hand from Boomer misses the target.
Boomer misses with a hook. Ekwall ducked under it nicely.
Ekwall falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Boomer counter with a right hand.
Boomer misses with a straight right.
As Boomer looks to move away, Ekwall throws a big counter combo but Boomer just gets out of the way.
A telegraphed right hand from Boomer misses the target.
Ekwall misses with a straight right.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ekwall throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Boomer drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Boomer uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ekwall.
And Boomer responds with a good body kick, but Ekwall manages to step out the way in time.
Boomer connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Ekwall looks to land a combination but Boomer avoids it well.
Boomer avoids a punch combination nicely.
Boomer dips to his left and cracks Ekwall with an uppercut!
A combination from Ekwall does no damage.
Boomer connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ekwall. Ekwall circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Boomer lands a jab to the nose.
Ekwall pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Boomer counters with a big right hand! Oh Ekwall is in trouble here! Boomer follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
