Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Haw (ranked 4402 p4p, 4590 weight class) and Phil Wei (ranked 85 p4p, 89 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Haw! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Wei! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Wei. Haw shrugs it off though. Andrew Haw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Haw pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Haw throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Haw throws a hook but Wei avoids it easily. Wei takes a jab right on the kisser.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Haw!
Haw throws a lazy right hand but Wei sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Wei slips a jab and a cross from Haw.
Haw lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wei circles away quickly and effectively. Haw swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Haw takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A nice combination there by Haw.
Haw stuffs the takedown. Wei uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Haw. Haw misses with a hook
and Wei makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Haw really felt that one! Haw is breathing heavily. Wei throws a shot to the body.
Haw stuffs the takedown. Haw swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Haw swinging wildly here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haw leaves Wei with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Andrew Haw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Wei. Wei lands a big head kick that sends Haw tumbling to the mat! Wei takes a step backwards and waves Haw back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Haw is rocked!
It looks like Andrew Haw has been cut. Nice takedown defense from Haw. No joy for Wei on that attempt. Oh Haw is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Wei tries to close the distance and clinch but Haw swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Haw seems to have got his legs back now. Wei is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Wei feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Haw sprawling to the canvas! Haw rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Wei finish him?!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A combination from Haw does no damage. Wei lands a big head kick that sends Haw tumbling to the mat! Wei takes a step backwards and waves Haw back to his feet - he wants the finish! Wei changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Haw tries to avoid it but Wei manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Haw to the ground. Haw escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Haw stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Wei. Wei drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wei is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wei sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Haw is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Wei is looking to take a break and control but Haw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Haw struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Haw is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Haw gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Wei wants to control the pace but Haw is squirming around nicely. Wei manages to capitalize on a mistake by Haw to take his back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Wei biding his time, controlling Haw. Haw staying busy and making it hard for Wei to control. Wei controlling from the back. Wei is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Haw with him. Haw is trying to defend but Wei has an arm under the chin now! Haw grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Phil Wei!
