Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Venegas (ranked 3426 p4p, 5375 weight class) and Nightey Knights (ranked 345 p4p, 281 weight class). Nightey Knights will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frankie Venegas !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nightey Knights!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venegas walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Knights digs a good body shot into Venegas 's ribs.

Venegas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Knights looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Knights tries to buck Venegas off but Venegas is having none of it.

Venegas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Knights really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Venegas . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Venegas tries to score with some ground and pound. Knights controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Knights struggling a bit here.
Knights is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee asks Venegas politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Venegas prefers to stall for the moment though.

Venegas scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Knights to see if he's OK.

It looks like Nightey Knights has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Knights tries to improve position but can't.

Venegas is trying to get an arm triangle but Knights is defending well.

Venegas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Knights is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Venegas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Knights knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Venegas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Knights tries to buck Venegas off but Venegas is having none of it.

Venegas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Knights has escaped the position, nice work there.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Knights can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Venegas lands an elbow.
Venegas just content to control the position.
Knights can't do much from the bottom here.
Venegas postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Knights on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Venegas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Knights, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Venegas is looking to take a break and control but Knights is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Knights's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Knights is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Venegas off and has taken his back!
Knights is hanging on to Venegas 's back as he tries to escape.
Venegas wants to control his opponent's hands but Knights gets his hands free.
Venegas looking very determined here, making life difficult for Knights.
Venegas controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad spot.
Venegas tries to break free.
Venegas prevents Knights from getting a body triangle.
Venegas rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Venegas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Venegas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Venegas keeping full guard, as Knights tries to pass.
Knights wants to control from the top but Venegas keeps moving.
Knights engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Knights trying to control the position from guard on top but Venegas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Venegas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Venegas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Venegas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Venegas has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Knights!
Knights is trying desperately to improve position.
Knights is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Knights tries to reverse the position but Venegas maintains control.
Venegas is landing with some decent strikes but Knights is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The cut above Nightey Knights's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Nightey Knights's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Frankie Venegas !
After winning the bout, Frankie Venegas thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
