Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hannu Karpo (ranked 1417 p4p, 1236 weight class) and William Snowdon (ranked 190 p4p, 171 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 20 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hannu Karpo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, William Snowdon!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snowdon ducks under a wild hook from Karpo.

Snowdon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Snowdon passes Karpo's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Snowdon wants to work for an arm triangle but Karpo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Karpo's coaches at FF Forever have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Snowdon is looking for a kimura here.

Snowdon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Karpo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Snowdon.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Snowdon is working for a kimura but Karpo is defending it quite comfortably.

Snowdon wants to take a breather but Karpo is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Karpo is looking to improve his position.
Snowdon trying to control from half guard but Karpo is working away.
Karpo wants to get back to full guard.
Karpo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Snowdon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Snowdon's back!
Snowdon wants to escape the position.
Karpo trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Karpo patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Snowdon is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Snowdon wants to control his opponent's hands but Karpo gets his hands free.
Karpo controlling well, preventing Snowdon from escaping the position.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Karpo's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Karpo punishes Snowdon with strikes from the back mount.
Karpo lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Will Karpo go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Snowdon tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Snowdon keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Karpo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Snowdon is looking to escape.
Snowdon bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Snowdon content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Karpo has locked up a guillotine! Karpo's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Snowdon is holding on here and Karpo must be using up a lot of energy. Snowdon has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Karpo gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Hannu Karpo!
Hannu Karpo decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
