PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Sparxx (ranked 201 p4p, 244 weight class) and Sven Torvik (ranked 33 p4p, 42 weight class). Sparxx comes to the cage accompanied by American Psycho- The Misfits. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sven Torvik!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Sparxx.
Sparxx scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Torvik doesn't seem bothered though.
Sparxx cracks Torvik with an open hand slap.

It looks like Sven Torvik has been cut.
Sparxx scores with a leg kick.
Torvik checks the leg kick nicely there.
Torvik is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Sparxx with a body shot.
Sparxx gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Good standup being displayed there by Sparxx as he connects with a hook.
Sparxx attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Torvik has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Torvik swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Sparxx counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sparxx displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Torvik throws out the jab.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Torvik throws out a loose jab but Sparxx uses good head movement to avoid it.

Sparxx misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Torvik misses the body punch
and Sparxx cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That has opened up Sven Torvik's cut even more.

Sparxx drops his shoulder and cracks Torvik with a huge uppercut! Torvik goes down! Can Sparxx finish him?
Sparxx has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Torvik is proving hard to escape from.
Sparxx will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sparxx seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Torvik is looking to stand up but Sparxx isn't so interested in that idea.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Sparxx's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sparxx prevents Torvik from getting back to his feet.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Torvik is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Torvik connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Sparxx lands a nice hook to Torvik's body. Torvik takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Torvik takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

The cut above Sven Torvik's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Sparxx is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Sparxx feints and then cracks Torvik's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Torvik down.
Sparxx is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Torvik throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sparxx sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Torvik takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Torvik is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sparxx.
Sparxx tried to counter with a leg kick but Torvik avoided it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Torvik takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Sparxx is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Sparxx takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Sven Torvik's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Sven Torvik's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Gary Sparxx!
Gary Sparxx decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
