The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Petrov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zulu's waist but Zulu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Petrov off to one side.
Zulu is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Zulu is looking to reverse the position.
Zulu is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Zulu felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Zulu is trying to get back to full guard.
Zulu won't allow Petrov to pass to mount.
Zulu wants to improve his position but Petrov is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zulu is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Petrov pulls his head out easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Petrov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Zulu doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Petrov .
Zulu is trying to get back to full guard.
Zulu makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Zulu.
Petrov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zulu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Zulu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Petrov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Petrov content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Zulu has locked up a guillotine! Zulu's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Petrov is holding on here and Zulu must be using up a lot of energy. Petrov has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Zulu gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
