Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jimbo Caterna (ranked 5682 p4p, 4582 weight class) and Paddy Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jimbo Caterna has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith rushes Caterna and presses him up against the cage.
Smith throws a head punch that misses.
Caterna wants to take the fight to the mat but Smith manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Smith avoids the elbow strike from Caterna, against the cage.
Caterna blocking some punches.
Smith tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Caterna's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Caterna breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Caterna misses the shot to the body.
Smith moves out of range as Caterna throws a body kick.
Caterna is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Caterna's guard.
Caterna has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smith is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Caterna looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Caterna parries the strikes from Smith easily there. Smith is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Caterna to escape.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Caterna. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jimbo Caterna overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Caterna is trying to stick to Smith's back but Smith is turning into Caterna. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Caterna's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Smith.

Caterna is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.

Caterna throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Smith escapes and throws Caterna's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Smith scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Caterna to see if he's OK.

Smith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Caterna has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
