Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Gavin (ranked 5499 p4p, 5164 weight class) and Gordie Danaher (ranked 501 p4p, 480 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Gavin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gordie Danaher! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gavin smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Gavin. Gavin scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Danaher takes a jab right on the kisser.
Gavin gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gavin lands with a short head shot on the inside. Gavin lands a right hand. Gavin lands a hook to the side of the head. A nice right hand lands inside from Gavin. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gavin lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Gavin lands with a right to the head. Danaher takes a shot to the head. Gavin lands a body shot. Gavin presses Danaher against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Gavin lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Gavin scores with an uppercut up the middle. Gavin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Danaher backwards. A short right from Gavin on the inside. A right handed body shot lands from Gavin.

Gavin lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Gavin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gavin manages to end up in side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gavin lands a decent elbow from side control. Gavin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Danaher on the ground. Danaher trying to remain calm as Gavin controls from the top position. Gavin is working Danaher over with some ground and pound from side control.

Danaher is letting Gavin control him for a moment. Danaher manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Gavin sitting and controlling from the half guard. Danaher wants to get back to full guard. Danaher on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Gavin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gavin in particular looking to stall. Danaher avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gavin.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gavin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Still in half guard, Gavin seems content to control. Gavin lands with a punch from half guard. Gavin is thwarting Danaher's attempts to control the position. Danaher has hold of Gavin's hands but Gavin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Danaher is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Gavin looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gavin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gavin connects with a nice short shot to Danaher's temple. Gavin is nestled in close to Danaher, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Danaher has hold of Gavin's hands but Gavin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Gavin trying to control the pace. Ground and pound from Gavin. Gavin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Danaher is pressing down on Gavin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Gavin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gavin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tommy Gavin dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Gavin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Danaher to the ground. Gavin is now in Danaher's guard. Gordie Danaher has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Danaher escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gavin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Danaher looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gavin scoring with some ground and pound. Gavin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Danaher working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gavin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gavin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gavin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Danaher's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danaher escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gavin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gavin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Danaher being controlled here, momentarily. Gavin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Danaher has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gavin has managed to get both his arms back between Danaher's legs - danger averted. Gavin is working Danaher over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Gavin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Danaher's head. Gavin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Gavin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gavin wants to control from the top but Danaher keeps moving. Gavin controls from within his opponent's guard. Danaher looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tommy Gavin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gavin scoring with some ground and pound. Danaher is looking for a triangle but Gavin pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gavin cracks Danaher with a solid left hand. Danaher trying to keep a closed guard but Gavin is proving a slippery customer.
Gavin with a nice head shot there. Gavin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Gavin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Danaher looking for a triangle here. Gavin is fighting it but it looks tight! Danaher pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Gavin is tapping out - this one is all over!
