PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Bostic (ranked 915 p4p, 1227 weight class) and Laertes Royster (ranked 51 p4p, 63 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bostic might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Move. Laertes Royster has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Bostic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Laertes Royster!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Bostic misses.
Royster with a nice calf kick.
Bostic shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Royster as he avoids it easily.
It seemed like Royster was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Royster thows a body kick. Bostic tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Royster throws a body shot but no joy.
Good leg kick by Royster.
Bostic takes a swing at Royster's ribcage but misses.
The fighters circle momentarily. Royster darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Royster throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bostic moves out of range of the body kick from Royster.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head kick from Royster lands but Bostic takes it in his stride.
Bostic avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Bostic has been working on his balance at MY YARD 'Resurrect', so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Royster.
Royster misses with a wild body shot.
Royster throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bostic stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Royster uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bostic.
Royster let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Bostic takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Royster walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bostic checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Royster uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bostic has time to react.
Royster has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Royster throws a leg kick but Bostic sees it coming and moves out of range.

Bostic is looking to wear down Royster with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Bostic is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Royster's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

That was a close second round but I would say that Michael Bostic will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bostic in particular looking to stall.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
