PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Warmaster Barnett (ranked 2127 p4p, 2283 weight class) and Chad Coleman (ranked 298 p4p, 316 weight class). Barnett's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, This is WAR by - GWAR. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Warmaster Barnett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnett tries to score a power double leg takedown but Coleman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barnett somewhat.
Nice sprawl there from Coleman as Barnett shoots in.
Coleman has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Barnett swings widly with a right hand
and Coleman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Barnett changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Coleman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Barnett is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Coleman has escaped the position, nice work there.
Coleman wants to get back to his feet.

Barnett wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Coleman, who protects the arm well.
Barnett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Coleman on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coleman is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Barnett asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnett is looking to take a break and control but Coleman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Coleman parries the strikes from Barnett easily there. Barnett is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Coleman to escape.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Barnett wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Coleman, who protects the arm well.
Coleman can't do much from the bottom here.
Coleman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Barnett's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Coleman moves into full guard.
Barnett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Barnett won't allow Coleman to sweep him here.

Coleman has his foot on Barnett's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barnett works his way back into a safe position though.

Barnett wants to pass the guard but Coleman is keeping the position.

Coleman is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Barnett presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Barnett changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Coleman fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Coleman manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Barnett keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Coleman has hold of one of Barnett's legs. Barnett is fighting the takedown attempt but Coleman gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Barnett has momentary wrist control but Coleman slips an elbow through the middle.
Coleman works over Barnett with some ground and pound from guard.
Coleman is in close to Barnett's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Coleman stands up over Barnett, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Barnett keeping moving, preventing Coleman from controlling successfully.
Coleman cracks Barnett with a solid left hand.

Barnett looking for a guillotine here but Coleman defends easily.
Coleman stands and throws Barnett's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Coleman is working to tighten his grip on Barnett's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Barnett has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Coleman is really squeezing tight and eventually Barnett passes out! Coleman breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Chad Coleman!
During a confident post fight interview, Chad Coleman thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
