Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guus Meeuwis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alez Calypse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calypse has chosen Prodigy - Spitfire as his entrance music. Guus Meeuwis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Guus Meeuwis ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alez Calypse! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meeuwis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Meeuwis trying to control but Calypse is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Calypse working for a triangle but Meeuwis defends it easily.
Calypse working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Meeuwis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Meeuwis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Meeuwis passes Calypse's left leg - he's now in half guard. Meeuwis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Calypse is just riding it out for now. Meeuwis eventually gives up the hold. Meeuwis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Calypse is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Meeuwis pulls his head out easily. Meeuwis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calypse scores with a few weak punches. Calypse tries to roll over but Meeuwis keeps him under control. Calypse keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Calypse is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Meeuwis pulls his head out easily.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Meeuwis shoots for a double leg takedown but Calypse sprawls well. He's pushed Meeuwis 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Meeuwis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Calypse! Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Calypse regains half guard. Calypse is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Meeuwis pulls his head out easily. Calypse works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meeuwis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Meeuwis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Meeuwis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Calypse throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Meeuwis scores with a couple of short elbows. Calypse is looking to regain half guard here but Meeuwis keeps moving and retains side control. Meeuwis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Calypse has escaped the position, nice work there. Meeuwis looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Meeuwis cracks Calypse with a big right hand but Calypse just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meeuwis misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Meeuwis tries to advance to mount but can't. Calypse sneaks back into half guard. Calypse looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Meeuwis prevents Calypse from improving his position. Calypse regains full guard. Nicely done. Calypse working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Meeuwis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Meeuwis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Calypse looks gassed! Meeuwis pushes down on Calypse's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meeuwis wants to pass the guard but Calypse is defending well. Calypse tries to roll over but Meeuwis keeps him under control. Meeuwis trying to control the action but Calypse is working from the bottom. Meeuwis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Meeuwis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Calypse is trying to get back to full guard. Meeuwis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Calypse keeps working. Meeuwis is trying to work for a kimura but Calypse is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Guus Meeuwis dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Meeuwis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Calypse as he jumps to the side. Guus Meeuwis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Meeuwis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Calypse sprawls well initially but Meeuwis persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Calypse is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Calypse is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Meeuwis is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meeuwis is pressing down on Calypse's thigh, looking to free his foot. Calypse is holding on for now. Calypse moves into full guard.
Calypse keeping moving, preventing Meeuwis from controlling successfully. Calypse throws his legs up looking for a submission but Meeuwis uses it to pass to side control.
Meeuwis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Calypse manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Calypse is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Meeuwis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Calypse. Meeuwis actively working from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Calypse wants to work for an arm triangle but Meeuwis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Calypse is breathing heavily. Calypse wants to pass the guard but Meeuwis is defending well. Meeuwis looking for submissions off his back. Calypse sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Meeuwis defending well though. Meeuwis tries to roll over but Calypse keeps him under control. Calypse missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Meeuwis feints and as Calypse raises his hands in defense, Meeuwis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Calypse looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meeuwis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Calypse works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Meeuwis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Calypse trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Meeuwis trying to control but Calypse is working from the bottom. Calypse wants to sweep here but Meeuwis controlling him for the moment. Calypse will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Guus Meeuwis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Calypse leaves Meeuwis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Meeuwis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Meeuwis lands in his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Calypse is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Meeuwis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Meeuwis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Meeuwis advances to half guard. Meeuwis is trying to work for a kimura but Calypse is defending well.
Calypse looking for submissions off his back. Calypse is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Meeuwis 's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Meeuwis 's back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Guus Meeuwis dominated that second round. That's time! Meeuwis 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Meeuwis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Calypse tries to avoid it but Meeuwis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Calypse to the ground. Calypse escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A left and a right from Meeuwis both land. Nice combination. Meeuwis shoots for a takedown but Calypse saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Meeuwis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Calypse but Calypse pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Guus Meeuwis . That's going to take a lot out of him. Meeuwis shoots in but no luck this time. Guus Meeuwis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Meeuwis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Calypse swivels and escapes.

Meeuwis throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Calypse regains half guard. Calypse actively working from the bottom here. Meeuwis prevents Calypse from improving his position. Calypse is pressing down on Meeuwis 's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Calypse keeping moving, preventing Meeuwis from controlling successfully. Meeuwis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Calypse has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Meeuwis has managed to get both his arms back between Calypse's legs - danger averted.

Meeuwis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Calypse Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Meeuwis 's back instead. Calypse gets his hands free as Meeuwis looks to control. Calypse is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Meeuwis tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Meeuwis can't escape the position.
Meeuwis wants to hold on but Calypse pushes him away. Meeuwis takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Meeuwis wants to control but Calypse is having none of it. Meeuwis really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calypse is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Meeuwis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Meeuwis is trying to escape the mount.
Meeuwis taking shots to the head. Meeuwis tries to reverse the position but Calypse maintains control. Calypse lands a nice shot to the head. Calypse with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Calypse throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Meeuwis because Calypse loaded up on that one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Calypse looking to secure an arm triangle but Meeuwis defends it well. Meeuwis sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Meeuwis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Calypse is working away from the top position though. Meeuwis moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Meeuwis working for a triangle but Calypse defends it easily.
Calypse drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Calypse jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Meeuwis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Calypse is aware though and is defending well. Alez Calypse has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Meeuwis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Calypse doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Calypse manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that's the end of the fight! Guus Meeuwis showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Meeuwis , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
