Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Remi Bernier (ranked 4559 p4p, 4668 weight class) and Nathaniel Jones (ranked 486 p4p, 496 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Remi Bernier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nathaniel Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Good work by Jones as he checks the leg kick.
Jones looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Bernier tries a low kick but Jones avoids it.
Bernier closes the distance looking to clinch
and Jones counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jones!
Bernier looks to score with a jab to the body but Jones is just out of range.

Bernier gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jones is trying to maintain a safe position but Bernier gets an underhook and turns Jones into the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Bernier.
A short body shot lands from Bernier as the two fighters clinch.
Bernier lands a left hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bernier stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bernier throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Jones misses with a two punch combination.
Bernier throws an off balance right hand

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Bernier wants to stand back up but Jones manages to pass into side control.
Jones controlling from side mount.
Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

More stalling from Jones.
It looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Jones.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jones thumps Bernier with a low kick.
Jones moves out of range of the leg kick from Bernier.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bernier tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bernier looks to score with a jab to the body but Jones is just out of range.
Jones throws a head kick but Bernier moves out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Bernier fails to land with a series of punches.
Jones drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bernier defends it well.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bernier. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nathaniel Jones seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bernier tries to work over Jones's front leg with a kick but Jones checks it.
Bernier lands a nice leg kick that just misses Jones's sensitive parts.
Nathaniel Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bernier swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Bernier is wriggling around but Jones manages to pass to half guard.

Jones content to control rather than advance.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones is continuing to stall.

Jones is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bernier has managed to free his arm - good work.
Jones is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The adventures of Jones the control monster continue. Boring.

Bernier tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Jones manages to move to mount!
Jones looking to control and managing it successfully.
Yet more stalling tactics from Jones.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bernier has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Nathaniel Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Sloppy strikes from Jones. Those never looked like landing.
A jab from Bernier finds it's way through Jones's defenses.
Bernier finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Bernier ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
Bernier closes the distance looking to clinch
and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Bernier.
Bernier just misses with a punch to the body.
Jones throws a counter combo.

Jones unleashes a big counter combination but Bernier bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Remi Bernier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bernier tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bernier dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Bernier takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses.
Jones tries to counter by closing the distance.
Jones uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bernier.

Bernier throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jones sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bernier moves to clinch but Jones breaks away

and Jones counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Bernier!
Bernier tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Nathaniel Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones controlling the position well here. Bernier rolled but Jones kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bernier is trying to stand back up.

I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
