PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Beta Wyte (ranked 4706 p4p, 4677 weight class) and Michael Boston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beta Wyte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Boston!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wyte darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Wyte working the head and body with strikes.
Boston is in trouble now - Wyte has advanced to mount!
Boston is wriggling around trying to escape.
Wyte avoids the attempt from Boston to control.
Wyte content just to control the position here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boston is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Boston tries to hold on but Wyte postures up.
Boston is bucking up trying to escape but Wyte cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Wyte throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Boston because Wyte loaded up on that one.
Wyte postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Boston looks a forlorn figure.

Boston keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Wyte lands a nice shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wyte gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Boston takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Boston uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Boston connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Wyte throws a low kick but Boston moves out of range easily.
Boston paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Wyte shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Wyte slips a nice elbow through Boston's hands, connecting with Boston's forehead.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Beta Wyte dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Wyte takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Boston closes the distance looking to clinch
and Wyte counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Boston enables Wyte to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Boston manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wyte controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Boston wants to control but Wyte passes easily into half guard.
Boston is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boston has one foot on Wyte's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Wyte shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Wyte throws a push kick but Boston slaps the foot to one side.
Wyte throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Wyte.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wyte tries to move to mount but Boston blocks the move with his legs.

Boston is trying to work for a sweep but Wyte has mounted him!
Wyte is landing with some decent strikes but Boston is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

BOOM! Wyte connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Boston is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Wyte controlling from mount.
Boston takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Boston tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wyte looking to control and managing it successfully.

Wyte controlling the pace for now.
A nice elbow there by Wyte.
The referee warns Boston that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Wyte lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Boston takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Beta Wyte dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Boston looks to score with a jab to the body but Wyte is just out of range.
Boston is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Boston throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wyte sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Wyte tries a low kick but Boston avoids it.
Wyte is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Boston throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wyte counters with a series of strikes. Boston will be more careful next time no doubt.
Boston might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Boston throws a right hand that Wyte ducks under and follows up with a left that Wyte also avoids with ease.
Boston stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Wyte closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wyte lands in his opponent's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wyte seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boston for as long as he can get away with.

Boston tries to sprawl but Wyte drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Wyte decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Boston looks to land a right hand but Wyte moved out of range.
Wyte moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Wyte shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boston's guard.
Boston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wyte looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Wyte trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Wyte not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Wyte is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Michael Boston has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Beta Wyte overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Beta Wyte is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wyte, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
