Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Iago Pacheco!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Pierre Archambeau!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Archambeau drives through and clinches with Pacheco against the cage.
Archambeau is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pacheco to keep the fight standing.
Pacheco misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Pacheco wants to break free but Archambeau has control.
Pacheco breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pacheco throws a low kick but Archambeau moves out of range easily.
Pacheco moves out of range of the body kick.
Pacheco swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Pacheco lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Archambeau has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Archambeau and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Archambeau drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pacheco defends it well.
Archambeau gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Pacheco looks to throw an elbow but misses.
I was talking to Pacheco's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Archambeau jumps guard but Pacheco turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Pacheco just misses with a elbow thrown towards Archambeau's brow.
Archambeau pulls guard.
Archambeau looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Archambeau controlling Pacheco's posture.
Pacheco is looking to stand up but Archambeau won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Archambeau working a defensive guard here.
Archambeau has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pacheco can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pacheco wanted to stand there but Archambeau had control of the position.
Archambeau is looking for a triangle but Pacheco pushes his legs off easily.
Pacheco is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Archambeau has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Pacheco is looking to defend but Archambeau has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Pacheco! Archambeau pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Pacheco taps out and this one is all over!
