Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Webster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Lanier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lanier comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Trapt-Headstrong kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Webster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gary Lanier!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Webster misses with the combination.
Lanier looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Lanier will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
No joy there for Webster, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
No luck for Lanier with that takedown attempt.
A combination from Webster does no damage.
Webster shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lanier counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Webster misses with a double jab.
Webster lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Gary Lanier has been cut.
Webster rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lanier moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Webster misses with a two punch combination.
Webster will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Webster drops Lanier with a nice combination! Webster dives into Lanier's guard, looking to finish!


Lanier is rocked!

Webster with a flurry of punches that miss.
Lanier is still in real trouble! Can Webster finish him?
Webster won't allow Lanier to sweep him here.
Lanier seems to have recovered his senses.
Webster works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Webster has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lanier is staying active underneath Webster, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Webster moves nicely into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Webster tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Webster has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Webster wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lanier, who protects the arm well.

Webster tries to stand but Lanier is controlling his head.
Webster has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lanier!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Webster trying to control but Lanier is having none of it.

Lanier slips a jab and a cross from Webster.
Webster throws a right and a left that Lanier avoids nicely.

and Lanier counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Webster!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Webster manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Webster wants to control the pace but Lanier is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
BOOM! Webster connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Webster is working for a guillotine from mount but Lanier frees his head quite easily.
Lanier is squirming around, avoiding Webster's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that George Webster will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

I would just about give that final round to Gary Lanier.
Well Webster has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
