Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan St Pierre (ranked 2840 p4p, 24624 weight class) and Luca Rossi (ranked 358 p4p, 619 weight class). Rossi is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Lamu. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Pierre closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rossi circles away. Rossi misses with a kick to the body.

Rossi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. St Pierre prevents Rossi from breaking the clinch. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. St Pierre winds up and cracks Rossi with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Jonathan St Pierre overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. St Pierre takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A big strike lands for St Pierre! That's really hurt Rossi and he's turned his back - St Pierre keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! St Pierre jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. Luca Rossi spoke after the fight, saying 'I deserved to win'.
