Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ariel Pérez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clancy Mills! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Pérez. Pérez takes a shot right to the bread basket. Pérez throws a big shot that misses. Pérez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Mills misses with a body shot.
Mills looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Mills throws a right and a left that both miss. Mills swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mills throws a lazy uppercut
and Pérez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Mills dodges the punch combination from Pérez.
Pérez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Mills throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Clancy Mills seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pérez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mills throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mills tried to score with a low kick but Pérez checks it. A shot to the body from Mills misses and Pérez counters with a straight right hand. Pérez throws a shot from downtown. Mills moves away and avoids it. Mills is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Pérez rather than just go for the knockout. Mills moves into range and clinches up with Pérez. A battle for position here, against the cage. Still in the clinch, Pérez scores with a nice short uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pérez misses with a punch to the body.
Mills has had enough of the clinch but Pérez keeps him there for the moment. Mills manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Mills misses with the head strike.
Pérez misses with a short punch on the inside. Pérez keeps control of Mills as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Mills breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mills throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Mills looks to score with a jab to the body but Pérez is just out of range. Nice straight punches there by Pérez. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Pérez. Mills throws a body punch but Pérez moves out of range. Mills pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Pérez was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Pérez needs to keep his hands up - Mills had a free shot at his head there. Pérez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mills counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Pérez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Pérez throws a looping overhand right but Mills ducks down to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mills tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pérez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mills bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pérez's head backwards. Pérez lands with an uppercut that bounces Mills off the cage and back into range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pérez throws a looping overhand right but Mills ducks down to avoid it. Mills ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Mills throws out a counter right but Pérez avoids it with no problem. Pérez jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice body punch from Mills. Mills closes the distance and clinches. Pérez misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Mills pushes Pérez back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Mills breaks the clinch.
Good work by Pérez as he checks the leg kick. Mills slips under a jab from Pérez. Mills cracks a nice hook into Pérez's ribs. Mills connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pérez. Pérez circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Pérez takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mills lands with a shot to the body. Pérez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pérez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Pérez slips under a jab. Pérez misses with a hook. Mills ducked under it nicely. Pérez is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Mills tries to clinch up. Mills stuns Pérez with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Mills wants to clinch and Pérez counters with a left and a right that stings Mills.
Mills is rocked! Pérez fakes the body blow, causing Mills to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Mills goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
