The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Mata tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lee defends well and Mata ends up having to push Lee into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Mata is trying to trip Lee. He has hold of a leg but Lee is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Mata persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Lee has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mata has passed into side control.

Mata is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at New York Public Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Mata tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Lee presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Mata is desperately trying to improve his position but Lee has a good base and remains in mount.

Mata tries to reverse the position but Lee maintains control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mata has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Lee really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Mata.

Lee doesn't have the hooks in and Mata manages to turn into his guard.

Mata wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.

Mata sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Lee doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Mata paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Lee - great work!
