Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuki Takeda! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 42 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jamie Bounty! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bounty closes the distance and clinches. Bounty blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Bounty stops a takedown attempt from Takeda.
Bounty wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Takeda has him pressed against the ropes. Takeda lands a nice shot to the body. Takeda jumps into guard, dragging Bounty to the mat.
Takeda working for a triangle but Bounty defends it easily.
Takeda is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bounty wants to get up but he can't break Takeda's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bounty must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bounty wants to stand and escape but instead Takeda has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Takeda is looking to work some ground and pound but Bounty has wrist control. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. That's three minutes gone in the round. Takeda passes easily into side control. Nice work. Takeda working the strikes but Bounty uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Takeda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Takeda missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Takeda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bounty is just riding it out for now. Takeda eventually gives up the hold. Takeda passes to full mount! Bounty really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Takeda. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bounty is squirming around, avoiding Takeda's attempts to control the action. Bounty holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Takeda tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Takeda landing shots from mount. Takeda sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Takeda with shots to the head and body - Bounty looks very uncomfortable down there. Takeda lands a heavy elbow. Takeda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bounty is looking to escape. Takeda has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Bounty is forced to tap!
