Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Hall (ranked 589 p4p, 1691 weight class) and Mike Schultz (ranked 70 p4p, 186 weight class). The key to victory for Richard Hall has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Hall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Schultz!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schultz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hall pinned against the cage. Hall gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Schultz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hall tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Schultz manages to circle out of the way.

Hall clinches up with Schultz and pushes him back against the cage.
Hall blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Schultz working hard to break the clinch.
Hall definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hall content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Schultz is trying to force a seperation but Hall has the dominant position.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Hall for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hall is taking a breather. Schultz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hall is keen to just control but Schultz is a slippery customer.
Schultz gets back to full guard.

Schultz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hall is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Schultz is looking to break free of the clinch but Hall has double underhooks.

Schultz swings wildly with an uppercut but Hall uses good head movement to avoid it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Schultz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hall tries to avoid it but Schultz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hall to the ground. Hall escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hall jumps guard and drags Schultz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Schultz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hall has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Schultz has managed to get both his arms back between Hall's legs - danger averted.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Richard Hall will probably get the nod.

Schultz stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Hall has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Schultz manages to get his head free but now Hall has transitioned to an armbar! Schultz grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Hall! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 5, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Richard Hall!

Richard Hall decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
