Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Phol Boxaaja (ranked 21088 p4p, 3026 weight class) and Pete Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dunham has chosen Im Forever Blowing Bubbles as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 19 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Phol Boxaaja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pete Dunham!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxaaja gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Dunham counters with a nice body kick.
Boxaaja fails with a takedown attempt.
Boxaaja with a lazy takedown attempt
and Dunham counters with a straight right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phol Boxaaja. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boxaaja shoots in but Dunham avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Phol Boxaaja seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slapping leg kick lands for Dunham.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Boxaaja.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boxaaja will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Dunham! But no joy.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dunham can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dunham is pulling down on Boxaaja's head to control his posture.

Boxaaja wants to pass the guard but Dunham is keeping the position.
Boxaaja is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dunham wants to stand and escape but Boxaaja is having none of it.

Boxaaja decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dunham, up you get!

Boxaaja closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dunham did well to prevent Boxaaja getting side control.
Dunham really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boxaaja. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Boxaaja seems to be working for a kimura but Dunham defends the submission attempt.
Boxaaja wants to take a breather but Dunham is having none of it.

Boxaaja is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Boxaaja wants to work for an arm triangle but Dunham is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Boxaaja seems to be looking for submissions.
Dunham looks like he's trying to stand up.

Boxaaja is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dunham is just riding it out for now. Boxaaja eventually gives up the hold.
Dunham is staying active underneath Boxaaja, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Boxaaja is just content to waste time from the top position. Dunham takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Dunham has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Boxaaja has passed into side control.

Boxaaja is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dunham knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Dunham is trying to get back to half guard.

Boxaaja has hold of Dunham's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Dunham tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Boxaaja cranks the arm and Dunham screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Dunham, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Phol Boxaaja!
A very excited looking Phol Boxaaja made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
