Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Barnes (ranked 1075 p4p, 2428 weight class) and Konichiwa Jempsa (ranked 149 p4p, 308 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Konichiwa Jempsa enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Konichiwa Jempsa!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Barnes uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jempsa has time to react.
A decent looking cross lands there for Barnes.
Barnes lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
The fighters circling - Jempsa throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Barnes was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Barnes has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Jempsa tries to sprawl but Barnes drives through with a takedown into half guard.

and Barnes counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jempsa shoots in for a takedown but Barnes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Barnes comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Barnes throws a body punch but Jempsa moves out of range.

Barnes throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jempsa drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Barnes defends it well.
Jempsa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barnes pinned against the cage. Barnes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jempsa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barnes manages to avoid it.
Jempsa misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Jempsa tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jempsa dives in for a single leg takedown but Barnes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jempsa is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Barnes's shoulder. That is not cool.

Jempsa felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Jempsa lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Jempsa is looking for a kimura but Barnes is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jempsa to get the leverage.
Jempsa is trying to control. Barnes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Barnes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jempsa looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barnes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jempsa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Barnes slaps away a takedown attempt from Jempsa, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Barnes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jempsa can do to turn this around?

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Barnes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Barnes cracks Jempsa with a solid left hand.
Jempsa is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I think Barnes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
