Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Armad Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Dunn!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunn is looking to clinch but Bates is avoiding it.
Bates looks for a takedown but Dunn sprawls well.

Bates drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dunn keeping moving, preventing Bates from controlling successfully.
Bates tries to free his leg and advance position but Dunn is retaining full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bates stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dunn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bates will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Bates shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bates showed some decent athleticism there.
Bates tries to pass to full mount but Dunn defends it.
Dunn preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Bates is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dunn is just riding it out for now. Bates eventually gives up the hold.

Bates seems to be looking for submissions.
Bates wants to free his trapped foot but Dunn is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bates wants to advance to full mount but Dunn doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Bates looking to sit in guard and control but Dunn gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Bates is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Bates wants to work for an arm triangle but Dunn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Dunn bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bates's head backwards.
Dunn throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bates shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dunn but Dunn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Bates closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dunn did well to prevent Bates getting side control.
Bates is just content to waste time from the top position. Dunn takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Bates tries for a kimura but Dunn is defending well.

Bates is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Dunn is trying to escape and Bates transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Dunn is forced to tap! Nice work there by Bates! Very nice indeed!
