Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Thomas (ranked 6190 p4p, 5989 weight class) and Evert Hermans (ranked 184 p4p, 177 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Thomas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Evert Hermans! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas looks to land a combination but Hermans avoids it well. Thomas lands a left and a right that send Hermans crashing to the mat, dazed. Thomas thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Evert Hermans has been cut. Some wild striking there from Thomas.
Thomas throws a right hand that Hermans ducks under and follows up with a left that Hermans also avoids with ease. Hermans looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Thomas swinging wildly here.

and Hermans counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hermans. Hermans has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Thomas uses from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hermans has his foot on Thomas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thomas works his way back into a safe position though. Hermans is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Hermans controlling the action here.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Hermans decides to return to a standing position. Hermans fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Thomas to the ground. Hermans is now in Thomas's guard. Thomas wants to get back to his feet but Hermans passes into half guard.
Hermans perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas taking some punishment here, with Hermans in his half guard. Hermans scoring with strikes to the body and head. Thomas trying to control from the bottom.
Thomas looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Hermans is working for a kimura but Thomas is defending it quite comfortably.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hermans passes the guard and advances to mount! Hermans cracks Thomas with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Thomas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Hermans working the ground and pound effectively.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hermans looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Thomas is trying desperately to improve position. Thomas defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hermans. BOOM! Hermans connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hermans controlling the position easily from mount. A nice elbow there by Hermans. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Evert Hermans dominated that round. The cut man is working on Evert Hermans's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Thomas misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hermans fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Thomas to the ground. Hermans is now in Thomas's guard. Thomas looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hermans puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Hermans lands with a punch from half guard. Thomas wants to improve his position but Hermans is controlling well.
Thomas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hermans on the ground. Thomas wants to get back to full guard but Hermans has mounted him! Hermans content just to control the position here. Hermans has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hermans has hold of Thomas's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thomas manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hermans controlling the position easily from mount. Thomas has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hermans scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Thomas?
Hermans controlling his opponent. Thomas is bucking up trying to escape but Hermans cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hermans sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Thomas tries to hold on but Hermans postures up. Hermans controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hermans gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! David Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch combination from Thomas misses. Hermans shoots in and bounces Thomas off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hermans stands up over Thomas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Hermans sitting in guard, not really doing much. Hermans decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Thomas, up you get!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hermans slips a jab and a cross from Thomas.
Hermans gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hermans is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Hermans throws an elbow but it misses.
Hermans breaks the clinch.
Thomas misses with a double jab.
Hermans fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Thomas, pushing him back against the cage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hermans works on Thomas's body with a couple of short punches. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hermans escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Thomas gets tackled into the cage by Hermans. Hermans maintains the clinch. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Evert Hermans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Evert Hermans's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round! Hermans dodges the punch combination from Thomas.

and Hermans counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Thomas! Hermans working the ground and pound from side control. Hermans taking a breather here. Hermans advances to full mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hermans unloading with bombs! Hermans tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hermans takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Hermans is landing with strikes. Thomas can't take much more of this. Hermans is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Thomas taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Hermans.
