PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between 3 Piece Soda (ranked 2510 p4p, 3153 weight class) and Landry Stephenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Soda might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 3 Nights. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, 3 Piece Soda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Landry Stephenson!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soda lands a head kick!
Stephenson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Soda.
Stephenson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Soda throws a head kick but Stephenson moves out of range.
Soda scores with a crisp jab that stopped Stephenson in his tracks.

Soda closes the distance and pushes Stephenson back into the cage.
Soda scores with a shoulder strike.
Stephenson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Soda is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Soda gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stephenson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've been hearing good reports from Soda's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Soda cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Stephenson wants to control but Soda is having none of it.

Stephenson is bucking up trying to escape but Soda cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Soda is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Stephenson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Stephenson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Soda breaks from Stephenson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Soda lands a big elbow.
Soda fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Soda has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Soda jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Stephenson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Soda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stephenson is looking to escape.

Soda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stephenson is trying desperately to improve position.
Soda content just to control the position here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Soda looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Soda lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Soda punishes Stephenson's body with a nice straight punch.
Stephenson wants to clinch but Soda slips to the side
and Soda counters with a straight right hand.
Soda getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Stephenson is rocked!
Soda tries a head kick but it misses.
Soda misses with a wild combination.
Stephenson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Stephenson throws out a loose jab but Soda uses good head movement to avoid it.
Stephenson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Soda sprawls well. Soda wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stephenson gets slowly back to his feet.
Landry Stephenson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Soda lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
3 Piece Soda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Soda throws a left that rocks Stephenson and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Soda dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Stephenson regain composure!
Stephenson is still in real trouble! Can Soda finish him?
Stephenson is looking to regain half guard here but Soda keeps moving and retains side control.

Soda tries for a kimura but Stephenson is defending well.
Soda looks up at the clock and then as Stephenson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Soda smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
3 Piece Soda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Soda swings around for an armbar but Stephenson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Soda's guard.
Soda seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Soda is on top in guard.

Soda is pushing down on Stephenson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stephenson is fighting to maintain full guard but Soda has managed to sneak the leg through.

Soda is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Stephenson is looking to control Soda's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stephenson avoid being mounted?

Stephenson seems to have recovered his senses.
Stephenson wants to improve his position but Soda is controlling well.
Soda is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stephenson can do to turn this around?
Soda lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Stephenson is in all sorts of trouble here.
Soda lands a nice shot to the head.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Soda! Stephenson is hurt baaadly! Soda is firing away with more strikes - Stephenson is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). 3 Piece Soda!
A relieved looking 3 Piece Soda thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
