PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lesley Dancer (ranked 938 p4p, 2076 weight class) and Xon HiChi (ranked 123 p4p, 244 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lesley Dancer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Xon HiChi!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
HiChi misses with an uppercut
and Dancer counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Dancer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by HiChi.
HiChi rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Dancer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Xon HiChi has been cut.
Dancer staying out of range there.
Dancer throws a jab when HiChi was well out of range.
HiChi looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Dancer clobbers HiChi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Nice defenses there by Dancer.

Dancer on the wrong end of a nice hook.

It looks like Lesley Dancer has been cut.
Dancer throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent HiChi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Dancer digs a good hook to HiChi's body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dancer changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dancer ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
HiChi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dancer.
HiChi looks like he wants to counter punch here.
HiChi misses with a left hand
and Dancer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Dancer scores with a nice strike.
Dancer avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Dancer lands with a cross.

HiChi misses with a left hand
letting Dancer counter with a right hand.

Dancer sends HiChi crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Dancer is motioning to the referee to let HiChi up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

HiChi is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
HiChi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dancer.
HiChi is still on wobbly legs! Can Dancer finish him?
HiChi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

HiChi avoids the body shot from Dancer.
HiChi seems to have recovered his senses.
Dancer is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Dancer connects with a body shot.
Dancer lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
HiChi throws a poor cross that misses
and Dancer makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
HiChi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dancer counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Dancer drops HiChi with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but HiChi looks back up at him and smiles so Dancer waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

That has opened up Xon HiChi's cut even more.
Dancer cracks HiChi with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends HiChi tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Dancer pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! HiChi is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lesley Dancer!
