Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Garica (ranked 5949 p4p, 4194 weight class) and Phil Wei (ranked 616 p4p, 512 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Garica! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Wei! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wei tries a head kick but it misses.
Wei throws a sloppy head kick and Garica moves out of range easily. Garica doesn't manage to clinch there - Wei circles away.
Wei let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Wei stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wei wants it to stay on the feet. Garica shoots in and drives through. Wei sprawls well. Garica dives in for a single leg takedown but Wei sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Garica. That's going to take a lot out of him. Garica is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Wei fails to pull guard.
Wei looks to throw an elbow but misses. Garica is trying to pull guard but Wei has him pressed against the cage. Wei fails to pull guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wei breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Garica lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Garica is breathing heavily. Garica shoots in but Wei avoids the takedown attempt easily. Wei clinches with his opponent.

Wei rushes Garica and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Wei tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Wei is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Garica gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Wei pulls guard successfully.
Wei is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Garica is controlling him. Wei has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Garica can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wei is adopting a defensive guard.

Garica won't allow Wei to get back to his feet. Wei pushes Garica off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Garica tries to clinch up. Wei drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wei is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wei wants to pass the guard but Garica is keeping the position. Wei loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Garica keeping moving, preventing Wei from controlling successfully. Garica is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Wei pushes Garica up against the cage in a clinch. Wei manages to break the clinch.

Wei has Garica pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Wei pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Garica tumbling to the mat - Wei dives into Garica's guard. Wei trying to control but Garica is working from the bottom. Phil Wei dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Wei shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wei showed some decent athleticism there. Wei stops Garica from getting back to his feet.
Nice strikes from Wei there. Wei is thwarting Garica's attempts to control the position. Wei seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Garica does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wei is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Garica is just riding it out for now. Wei eventually gives up the hold. Wei with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Garica gets back to full guard.
Wei trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wei has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Wei trying to control but Garica is working from the bottom. Wei wants to stand and escape but instead Garica has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Wei is looking for a triangle but Garica pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Wei tries to buck Garica off but Garica is having none of it. Wei is trying to control Garica's posture but Garica avoids it. Wei tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Garica wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Garica working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Wei is holding Garica down, trying to stall. Wei is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Garica's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Garica lands strikes from half guard. Garica is working for a submission of some sort.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wei has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Garica is working away from the top position though. Wei is controlling Garica's position as best he can from this difficult position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wei is trying to stand up here but Garica is controlling him well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jose Garica will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Wei pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Garica back to the cage. Wei follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Wei throws a series of strikes that have Garica backpedaling.
Garica gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Wei counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Wei throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Garica is looking for a counter combo. Jose Garica seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wei tries to land a body kick and Garica counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Wei looks to land a combination but Garica avoids it well. Wei fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Garica misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Wei. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Wei throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Garica tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wei is in Garica's guard. Garica will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wei throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wei is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Wei gets to his feet. Garica looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Left hook, right uppercut from Wei. Wei looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Wei slaps away a takedown attempt from Garica, before circling back to the center of the mat. Wei looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Wei clinches with his opponent.
Wei jumps guard but Garica stands there with Wei around his waist. Wei gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Wei has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Garica after a bit of a struggle. Garica missing with knees to the body.
Wei has had enough of the clinch but Garica keeps him there for the moment. Garica jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wei walks away with a smile on his face. Garica gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Garica. That's going to take a lot out of him. Garica gets tackled into the cage by Wei. Wei maintains the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Wei's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Wei has Garica up against the cage in a clinch.

Garica tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wei just stands there and leans against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Garica just misses with a elbow thrown towards Wei's brow. Wei is looking to break free of the clinch but Garica has double underhooks. Garica landing knees to the body.
Wei displaying some good clinch control by pressing Garica up against the cage. Wei is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Garica to keep the fight standing. And that's the end of the fight! Phil Wei comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Wei has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
