Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dokk Strassi (ranked 5158 p4p, 3584 weight class) and Paul Welch (ranked 536 p4p, 430 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dokk Strassi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Welch! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Welch's jab looks to have found its range, popping Strassi under the eye. Strassi takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Strassi checks a leg kick. Strassi looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Welch's coach down at Cozad The Island was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Welch's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Strassi throws a predictable looking body shot
and Welch counters by clinching up. Strassi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Welch gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Strassi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Strassi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Welch avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. A battle for position here, against the cage. Welch lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Strassi backwards. Strassi is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Welch to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dokk Strassi. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Strassi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Welch scores with a nice hook to the head. Welch lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Strassi throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round. Welch throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Strassis head. Strassi's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Strassi has a couple of punches blocked by Welch.

Welch lands with a short head shot on the inside. A quick uppercut on the inside from Welch. Welch working some nice short punches in the clinch. Welch lands a nice shot to the body. Welch lands a hook that snaps the head of Strassi backwards. Strassi using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Welch has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A short right from Welch on the inside. Still in the clinch, Welch scores with a nice short uppercut. Welch managing to block the knees to the body from Strassi.

Some bone on bone action there as Strassi checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheers as Welch lands an impressive looking overhand right. Strassi doesn't seem phased though. Welch swings away with a leg kick that misses. Welch moves into the clinch successfully.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. A short right from Welch. Strassi putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Welch in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Welch lands a left hand.
Welch lands a nice uppercut. Welch lands a right hand. Welch lands a left hand that snaps the head of Strassi backwards. Welch lands with a short shot to the head. Welch makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Strassi is rocked! Strassi's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Strassi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Strassi drops his hands momentarily and Welch takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Welch lands a big right hand that sends Strassi crashing to the mat! Welch stays standing though and waves Strassi back to his feet! Oh Strassi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Welch throws a chopping leg kick but Strassi manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Welch fakes the body blow, causing Strassi to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Strassi goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Paul Welch!
