Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Pawlikowski (ranked 5725 p4p, 6208 weight class) and Ross Nyland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross Nyland will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Pawlikowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ross Nyland! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pawlikowski takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Nyland shoots in for a takedown but Pawlikowski shows good takedown defense. Pawlikowski misses with the combination.
Nyland avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nyland closes the distance and clinches. Nyland with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Nyland has Pawlikowski pressed against the cage, preventing Pawlikowski from circling away and getting back to striking at range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pawlikowski breaks the clinch.

Our sources have told us that Pawlikowski has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Pawlikowski is trying to pull guard but Nyland turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Nyland gets control of Pawlikowski's arms and successfully pulls guard. Nyland will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Pawlikowski stands and steps away. Nyland gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Pawlikowski tries to clinch but Nyland is having none of it. Pawlikowski throws a right hand that Nyland ducks under and follows up with a left that Nyland also avoids with ease. Nyland tries to counter with a clinch but Pawlikowski shakes him off and moves away. Nyland fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Pawlikowski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nyland swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nyland shoots for a takedown but Pawlikowski saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Pawlikowski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Pawlikowski pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nyland dives in for a single leg takedown but Pawlikowski sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Pawlikowski drops Nyland with a beautiful combination! Nyland stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Pawlikowski is looking for the KO!

It looks like Ross Nyland has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pawlikowski pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nyland is still on wobbly legs! Can Pawlikowski finish him? Nyland tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Pawlikowski closes the distance and clinches. Nyland breaks the clinch.

Pawlikowski thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Pawlikowski stops Nyland from standing up. Pawlikowski with a flurry of punches that miss. Pawlikowski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pawlikowski with a nice head shot there. Nyland is working an open guard so Pawlikowski takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Pawlikowski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nyland swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pawlikowski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Daniel Pawlikowski is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nyland looks winded!

Nyland wants to control from the top but Pawlikowski keeps moving. The fighters are working up against the cage. Pawlikowski manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Pawlikowski breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nyland fails in his attempt to clinch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nyland shoots in for a double leg but Pawlikowski sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Nyland is looking to get back to is feet but Pawlikowski passes into side control.
Daniel Pawlikowski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nyland taking a bit of punishment here - Pawlikowski scoring with strikes. Pawlikowski is chipping away with strikes.
Pawlikowski decides to stand back up. Pawlikowski steps back and let's Nyland get back to his feet. Nyland shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pawlikowski as he jumps to the side. Pawlikowski has closed the distance and engaged Nyland in a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pawlikowski pulls guard. Pawlikowski has Nyland pulled in close to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pawlikowski looking for a sweep. Not yet Pawlikowski, not yet. Pawlikowski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Pawlikowski seems to be working for a kimura but Nyland defends the submission attempt. Nyland felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Pawlikowski wants to work for an arm triangle but Nyland is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pawlikowski is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nyland doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pawlikowski. Pawlikowski seems to be working for a kimura but Nyland defends the submission attempt. Nyland is defending against the submission attempts here by Pawlikowski.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pawlikowski decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Pawlikowski looks to land a combination but Nyland avoids it well. Nyland is looking to clinch but Pawlikowski is avoiding it.

Pawlikowski is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nyland can do to turn this around? Pawlikowski gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Pawlikowski wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Nyland tries to free his leg and advance position but Pawlikowski is retaining full guard.
