And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, John Spackman!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blirup fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Blirup fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Blirup looks for a takedown but Spackman sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Martin Blirup. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Spackman gets a takedown into half guard.

Spackman is trying to work for a kimura but Blirup is defending well.

Blirup is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Spackman pulls his head out easily.
Blirup might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Spackman is looking for a kimura but Blirup is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Spackman to get the leverage.

Spackman stands up and beckons Blirup to join him on the feet.

Blirup misses with a takedown

and Spackman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spackman is stalling in the full guard.
Blirup can't keep his opponent in guard - Spackman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Spackman passes to side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Spackman remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Blirup is looking to reverse the position.

Spackman has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Blirup is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Spackman yanks on the arm and Blirup is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Spackman.
