PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ispa Hunter (ranked 2646 p4p, 3279 weight class) and Alexander Rozhkov (ranked 354 p4p, 121 weight class). Alexander Rozhkov told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Rozhkov!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter walks into a left hand.
Hunter lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Alexander Rozhkov has been cut.
Hunter connects with a right hand. Rozhkov shakes it off.
Rozhkov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A head kick by Hunter misses

and Rozhkov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hunter's guard.

Hunter looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hunter looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Hunter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rozhkov defends it easily.

Hunter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rozhkov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rozhkov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rozhkov stands up over Hunter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Rozhkov lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hunter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rozhkov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hunter's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rozhkov chips away with some ground and pound.
Rozhkov connects with a couple of short punches.

Hunter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hunter keeping moving, preventing Rozhkov from controlling successfully.
Rozhkov scoring with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rozhkov lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Hunter working a defensive guard here.
Rozhkov scoring with punches to the head and body.

Hunter is rocked!
Rozhkov chips away with some ground and pound.
Oh Hunter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rozhkov gets to his feet and stands over Hunter, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Hunter felt that one! Rozhkov unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Hunter from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexander Rozhkov!
Alexander Rozhkov decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
