Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Swag Surf (ranked 23374 p4p, 2267 weight class) and Kaoru Hanayama (ranked 0 p4p, 286 weight class). Hanayama is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Plan Three - Triggers. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Swag Surf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaoru Hanayama!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Surf doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hanayama counters with a nice body shot.
Surf looks to clinch
and Hanayama counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Surf with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hanayama to score with a decent uppercut.

Hanayama feints and as Surf raises his hands in defense, Hanayama changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Surf wants to get back to his feet but Hanayama passes into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.


Hanayama seems to be working for a kimura but Surf defends the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hanayama is working for a submission of some sort.
Hanayama trying to mount his opponent but Surf defends it.
Surf looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hanayama is taking a breather. Surf says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hanayama passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Surf!

Hanayama has hold of Surf's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Surf manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
You get the feeling that Surf really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Hanayama looking to secure an arm triangle but Surf defends it well.
Surf is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Hanayama is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Surf can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Surf knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hanayama on the ground.
Surf is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Hanayama has taken his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hanayama has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Surf is in real trouble here. Hanayama gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Surf is tapping out! Hanayama wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kaoru Hanayama!
Kaoru Hanayama seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
