Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Monty Milano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Shortman!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Milano connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

It looks like James Shortman has been cut.
Shortman fails with the takedown
and Milano counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
James Shortman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shortman walks into a jab.

Milano cracks Shortman with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Milano has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Shortman to stand back up!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shortman shoots for a double leg takedown but Milano sprawls well. He's pushed Shortman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Milano lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

That has opened up James Shortman's cut even more.
Milano swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Shortman dives in for a single leg takedown but Milano sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Monty Milano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Shortman.

Milano throwing a counter right hand but Shortman manages to avoid it.
Milano lands with a shot to the body.
Shortman shoots in for a takedown but Milano shows good takedown defense.
Shortman has his takedown stuffed
and Milano cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Milano cracks Shortman with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Shortman falls to his knees and Milano doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Monty Milano!
