PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mono Loco (ranked 1177 p4p, 2732 weight class) and Kristof Pardi (ranked 132 p4p, 279 weight class). Pardi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Party Boy Theme kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mono Loco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kristof Pardi!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pardi with a jab.
Pardi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Loco blocks a jab.
Pardi throws a hook but Loco avoids it easily.
Loco misses with a takedown
and Loco takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Pardi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pardi being controlled here, momentarily.
Pardi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Loco is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've been hearing good reports from Loco's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pardi working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

That's time! Loco's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Loco appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Pardi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A jab lands there for Pardi.
Pardi stuffs the takedown.
Pardi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

A slow jab from Pardi misses its intended target.
Pardi scores with a body shot.
Pardi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Loco moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A decent looking cross lands there for Pardi.
Pardi scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pardi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Loco manages to avoid it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Loco.

Loco has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Loco there as he acknowledges the shot.
Pardi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Loco was well out of range. Poor timing from Pardi.
Loco slips under a jab.
Pardi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Loco's head.
Loco changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pardi tries to avoid it but Loco manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pardi to the ground. Pardi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mono Loco. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Loco is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pardi's half guard.
Pardi slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Loco stays in close to Pardi's body and controls the position.
Loco postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Pardi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Pardi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Loco is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pardi is aware though and is defending well.

Loco is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pardi defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pardi lying in Loco's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Loco decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Pardi taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mono Loco!
A relieved looking Mono Loco thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
