The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but marks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gracie looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
You can see the frustration on marks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
marks is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but marks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
marks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
marks is controlling Gracie's trapped leg to prevent Gracie from advancing to side control.
marks is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gracie pulls his head out easily.
Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so marks is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.
