PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harold Hogfish (ranked 25502 p4p, 5780 weight class) and Basil Shabazz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harold Hogfish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Basil Shabazz!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogfish takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Shabazz misses with a two punch combination.
Hogfish steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shabazz.
Hogfish checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Hogfish went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Hogfish really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hogfish clinches up against the cage.
Shabazz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hogfish is pushing Shabazz up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Shabazz is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hogfish is defending well.
Hogfish is trying to pull guard but Shabazz turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hogfish is looking to control Shabazz's arms but Shabazz gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hogfish has his back to the cage.
Hogfish avoids the elbow strike from Shabazz, against the cage.
Shabazz throws a punch but it's blocked by Hogfish.
Shabazz dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Shabazz tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Hogfish's elbow.
Hogfish has been working on his balance at Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Shabazz.

Hogfish fails to pull guard.
Shabazz scores with a nice hook to the head.
Shabazz stalling the fight.
Shabazz stalling in the clinch but Hogfish improves position.

Shabazz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hogfish shoots for a double leg takedown but Shabazz sprawls well. He's pushed Hogfish's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harold Hogfish. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shabazz scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Shabazz's coach down at Kalashnikov ELITE MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Shabazz's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Hogfish scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Shabazz paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Shabazz is looking to score with low kicks.

Hogfish has his takedown stuffed
letting Shabazz counter with a right hand.

Shabazz lands a left and a right that send Hogfish crashing to the mat, dazed. Shabazz thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Hogfish is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shabazz connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Hogfish out cold! This one is over in a flash!
