Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Venegas (ranked 711 p4p, 837 weight class) and John Crosser (ranked 80 p4p, 95 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frankie Venegas ! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Crosser! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Venegas closes the distance and clinches up with Crosser, looking for a takedown. Venegas pushes Crosser against the cage but Crosser circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Crosser rushes Venegas and presses him up against the cage. Crosser scores with a shot to the side of Venegas 's head. Crosser presses Venegas against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Crosser is defending well against a takedown attempt. Crosser lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Crosser lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Venegas is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Crosser gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankie Venegas . That's going to take a lot out of him. Crosser with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Crosser taking a breather. Crosser putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Venegas in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. I was talking to Venegas 's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Venegas is breathing heavily. Crosser breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Crosser lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Crosser has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Crosser is pushing Venegas up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Crosser softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Crosser scores with a nice hook to the head. Venegas drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Crosser gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Crosser looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. A nice left hand lands by Crosser.
Venegas is rocked! Venegas misses with the head strike.
Crosser lands with a right to the head. Oh Venegas is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! A short uppercut from Crosser. Crosser prevents the takedown attempt.
Crosser pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Crosser has taken the fight to the clinch.
Crosser lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Venegas to his knees! Crosser keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Crosser! John Crosser is the new featherweight champion!
