Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tatsujiri Matsui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ted Rogers has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tatsujiri Matsui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsui tries for a takedown but Rogers sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Matsui shoots in but Rogers avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Rogers gets a clinch.

Rogers successfully pulls guard.

Rogers is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Matsui drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Matsui jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Matsui drops back looking for a leg! Rogers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rogers manages to kick Matsui off! Matsui jumps back into Rogers's guard.

Matsui avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Matsui postures up.
Matsui wants to get up but he can't break Rogers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Matsui drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rogers manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Matsui has Rogers in his guard.
Matsui is breathing heavily.
Rogers slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rogers's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rogers wants to pass the guard but Matsui is keeping the position.

Rogers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Matsui is looking to stand up but Rogers isn't so interested in that idea.
Rogers trying to control but Matsui is working from the bottom.

Rogers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rogers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rogers is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Matsui is looking for a triangle but Rogers pushes his legs off easily.
Rogers controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers trying to control the position from guard on top but Matsui is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rogers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Matsui looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Rogers trying to control but Matsui is working from the bottom.
Matsui will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rogers slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
I looks like Rogers might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ted Rogers just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rogers has Matsui up against the cage in a clinch.

Matsui is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rogers is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Matsui to the mat. Matsui regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Matsui has his foot on Rogers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rogers works his way back into a safe position though.

Matsui wants to stand and escape but Rogers is having none of it.

Matsui escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rogers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rogers works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Rogers takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Rogers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Matsui is just riding it out for now. Rogers eventually gives up the hold.
Rogers prevents Matsui from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ted Rogers dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Rogers drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Rogers trying to control the position from guard on top but Matsui is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Matsui had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rogers is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Matsui Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rogers's back instead.
Rogers trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Matsui looking for the choke but no joy.

Matsui has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Rogers trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rogers might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Matsui kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Matsui is trying to stick to Rogers's back but Rogers is turning into Matsui. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Matsui's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Rogers.

Rogers avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Rogers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Matsui is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Matsui is trying desperately to improve position.
Rogers sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Rogers prevents Matsui from getting the reversal.
Matsui is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Matsui defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rogers.
Rogers tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rogers wants to control the pace but Matsui is squirming around nicely.
Matsui is trying to stand.

Matsui is in all sorts of trouble here.

Rogers looking to secure an arm triangle but Matsui defends it well.

Rogers working for a submission but Matsui is keeping him at bay.

Rogers is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Rogers extends the arm and Matsui is forced to tap!
