Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gemechu McKraken (ranked 403 p4p, 282 weight class) and Sergei Petrov (ranked 21 p4p, 13 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Petrov's choice of entrance music: I Am Free. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 20 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Gemechu McKraken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 30 - 8 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergei Petrov! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, John Mangel and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petrov takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Petrov looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Petrov throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Petrov throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Petrov throws a jab but it's blocked by McKraken. Petrov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. McKraken tries to counter with a takedown but Petrov is quick to defend against it. Petrov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McKraken uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Petrov. McKraken ducks under a wild hook from Petrov. Petrov ducks under a wild hook from McKraken. Petrov throws a quick head kick that skims the top of McKraken's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petrov throws a looping overhand right but McKraken ducks down to avoid it. McKraken appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Petrov scores with a three punch combo!
Petrov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McKraken manages to avoid it. McKraken takes a body punch but keeps moving. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A slow jab from Petrov misses its intended target. McKraken tries to counter with a takedown but Petrov is quick to defend against it.
That's one minute gone in the round. McKraken moves forwards but Petrov connects with a nice, crisp jab. McKraken blocks a low kick nicely. Petrov getting the better of the striking in that exchange. McKraken avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McKraken punishes Petrov's body with a nice straight punch. McKraken's jab looks to have found its range, popping Petrov under the eye. Petrov misses the jab. McKraken defending well as Petrov loads up on a big left hand. McKraken appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Petrov misses with a straight left. A left and a right from Petrov both land. Nice combination. Petrov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. McKraken shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Petrov but Petrov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Petrov lands a head shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McKraken looks to score with a jab to the body but Petrov is just out of range. Petrov throws a leg kick and McKraken counters with a single leg into guard. Petrov didn't expect that. McKraken trying to control but Petrov is working from the bottom. McKraken connects with a couple of short punches. McKraken stops Petrov from standing up. McKraken has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Petrov keeping moving, preventing McKraken from controlling successfully. McKraken slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Petrov explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! A lazy left from Petrov finds it's target. Petrov fails with an attempt to clinch.
McKraken walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Petrov misses with an uppercut. McKraken saw that one coming.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petrov lands with a kick to the temple. McKraken shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" McKraken avoids the head kick by Petrov.
McKraken steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Petrov. McKraken changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Petrov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. McKraken feinted with a counter takedown. Sergei Petrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McKraken takes a shot right to the bread basket. Petrov takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
McKraken misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Petrov thuds his right hand into McKraken's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as McKraken checks a leg kick. Petrov missing with a left hand there. McKraken was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Petrov misses with a looping right. McKraken feinted with a counter takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McKraken on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. McKraken lands with an overhand left. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Petrov misses the body punch and McKraken counters with a nice double leg into guard. Petrov wants to stand up but McKraken is controlling him. McKraken trying to control the position from guard on top but Petrov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McKraken prevents Petrov from getting back to his feet. Petrov is controlling McKraken's posture. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Sergei Petrov dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Petrov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McKraken throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Petrov tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McKraken is in Petrov's guard. McKraken advances position into side control! Petrov wants to get back to his feet. Petrov is working to avoid the ground and pound but McKraken connects with a decent elbow. Petrov is trying to control McKraken's posture but McKraken avoids it. Petrov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McKraken wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McKraken landing strikes. Petrov stops McKraken from passing to mount. Petrov throws McKraken to one side and escapes! Petrov motions for McKraken to come forward. Petrov throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. McKraken changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. McKraken gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Petrov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Petrov throws a head kick that misses. Petrov with a jab. Petrov swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and McKraken counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Petrov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. McKraken trying to control the position from guard on top but Petrov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McKraken pushes down on Petrov's leg and manages to get into half guard. McKraken is taking a breather. Petrov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. McKraken wants to free his trapped foot but Petrov is holding on for dear life with his legs. McKraken is nestled in close to Petrov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. McKraken moves nicely into side control. McKraken prevents Petrov from escaping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McKraken tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McKraken has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! McKraken working the head with strikes. Petrov is trying to buck McKraken off. Petrov can't do much from the bottom here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McKraken remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. McKraken tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. McKraken tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McKraken has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
