Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Savedra (ranked 6290 p4p, 2861 weight class) and Rodrigo Bibirano (ranked 597 p4p, 362 weight class). Rodrigo Bibirano told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Juan Savedra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Bibirano! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bibirano fails with the takedown. A jab from Savedra finds it's way through Bibirano's defenses. Bibirano takes a body punch but keeps moving. Bibirano doesn't succeed with the takedown and Savedra counters with a stiff right hand. Bibirano misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Juan Savedra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodrigo Bibirano. Bibirano shoots in looking for a takedown. Savedra tries to sprawl out of it but Bibirano keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Savedra manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bibirano has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Savedra.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bibirano manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Savedra on his heels. He'll look to pass Savedra's guard now, I'm sure. Savedra is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Savedra looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bibirano is one step ahead there. My spies in Cozad The Island inform me that Bibirano has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Bibirano trying to control but Savedra is working from the bottom. Bibirano slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Savedra wants to control but Bibirano postures up. Bibirano is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Savedra looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bibirano gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Savedra is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bibirano lets go of the hold and Savedra can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rodrigo Bibirano! Rodrigo Bibirano decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
