Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Travis Lutter (ranked 3983 p4p, 5702 weight class) and Eberhard Kovac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lutter comes to the cage accompanied by Island Boy. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Travis Lutter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eberhard Kovac! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kovac looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lutter is looking for a sweep. Kovac is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lutter moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Lutter looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kovac passes into side control.
Lutter is looking to reverse the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lutter tries to control but Kovac manages to take his back. Kovac tries to keep control of the position but Lutter is staying busy. Kovac doesn't have the hooks in and Lutter manages to turn into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lutter scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lutter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kovac has momentary wrist control but Lutter slips an elbow through the middle. Kovac is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lutter forces his way into half guard. Lutter is looking for a kimura here.

Lutter is looking to take a break and control but Kovac is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lutter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lutter tries to pass to full mount but Kovac defends it. Lutter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Lutter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kovac is just riding it out for now. Lutter eventually gives up the hold. Lutter landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kovac manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Lutter keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Kovac avoiding damage.

Lutter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lutter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Lutter scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lutter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lutter working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kovac's head. Lutter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kovac swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lutter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lutter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Lutter slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lutter trying to control the position from guard on top but Kovac is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lutter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kovac looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kovac looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kovac!

A close round but Eberhard Kovac will probably get the nod. That's time! Lutter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Lutter shoots in and drives through. Kovac sprawls well. Kovac displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lutter. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lutter is defended easily by Kovac. Kovac steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Lutter. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Travis Lutter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lutter drives through with a takedown into Kovac's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Lutter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. Lutter sitting in guard here, content to control. Kovac really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lutter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kovac is trying to control the position but Lutter postures up. Lutter thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kovac throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Lutter makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Kovac is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lutter wants to control from the top but Kovac keeps moving. Lutter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Lutter trying to control but Kovac is working from the bottom. Lutter pushes down on Kovac's leg and manages to get into half guard. Lutter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

In favor of your winner, by split decision... Travis Lutter! Travis Lutter decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
