Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dick Army Jr (ranked 1342 p4p, 1066 weight class) and John Edmonds (ranked 196 p4p, 158 weight class). Edmonds has chosen Frankie Smith - Double Dutch Bus as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dick Army Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Edmonds!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Army Jr closes the distance but Edmonds moves to the side
and Edmonds counters with a left to the body.
Edmonds throws a jab but it's blocked by Army Jr.
Army Jr seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Army Jr drives through and clinches with Edmonds against the cage.

Edmonds has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Army Jr clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Army Jr is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Edmonds gets his way!

Army Jr is having to fend off submission attempts from Edmonds, who is looking to sink in the choke. Edmonds doesn't have the hooks in though and Army Jr manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Edmonds has an active guard here but Army Jr has managed to pass into half guard.

Edmonds is looking for a triangle but Army Jr pushes his legs off easily.

Army Jr wants to stand but Edmonds is controlling his arm.

Army Jr takes a little break here. Edmonds wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Edmonds tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Army Jr wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Edmonds is looking for a sweep.
Edmonds is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Army Jr wants to stand but Edmonds has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Edmonds manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Army Jr manages to get himself to full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Army Jr wants to sweep here but Edmonds controlling him for the moment.

A close round but John Edmonds will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Edmonds tries to keep at a distance but Army Jr has taken the fight into the clinch.
Edmonds lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Army Jr backwards.

Army Jr makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Edmonds is trying to trip Army Jr. He has hold of a leg but Army Jr is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Edmonds persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Edmonds tries to free his leg and advance position but Army Jr is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Edmonds looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Army Jr has picked Edmonds up and slammed him! Edmonds can't keep hold of the triangle and Army Jr manages to pass to side control!

Edmonds manages to work his way to half guard, despite Army Jr's best efforts.
Edmonds is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Edmonds is trying to control but Army Jr passes into side control!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Edmonds lands with an uppercut that bounces Army Jr off the cage and back into range.

and Army Jr connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Army Jr clinches up against the cage.
Army Jr lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Edmonds pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Army Jr scores with a jab to the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dick Army Jr dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Army Jr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Edmonds manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
John Edmonds seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Army Jr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Edmonds gets a double leg takedown into Army Jr's guard.

Army Jr wants to stand up but Edmonds is controlling him.
Edmonds sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Army Jr's guard.
Army Jr is in trouble now - Edmonds has advanced to mount!

Edmonds takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Edmonds is trying to take his opponent's back.
Edmonds controlling the pace for now.

Edmonds jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Army Jr manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Edmonds tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Edmonds has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Edmonds working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Army Jr is trying to control Edmonds's posture but Edmonds avoids it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Edmonds tries to advance to mount but can't.

Edmonds is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Army Jr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

John Edmonds comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Edmonds has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
