Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kodiyak Redd (ranked 1580 p4p, 1553 weight class) and Frank French (ranked 92 p4p, 88 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kodiyak Redd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank French!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Redd looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
French tries to get to full guard but Redd has control of the leg.
Redd sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. French defending well though.
Redd trying to mount his opponent but French defends it.
Redd moves nicely into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Redd lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Redd tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Redd throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Redd looking to punish the body of his opponent here but French is avoiding damage well.
French is not content to let Redd control the position.
Redd controls the position.
Redd working away.
Redd advances nicely into full mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Redd sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Redd throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
The referee warns French that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Redd looking to secure an arm triangle but French defends it well.
Redd looking to ground and pound but French is blocking nicely.
Redd misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
French looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Redd lands with some vicious ground and pound - can French hang on?
French is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Redd has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Redd landing strikes from the mount and French is in trouble!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if French can do anything to dispel that myth.

Redd throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Redd fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
French is working to get back to half guard.
French really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Redd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Redd working the ground and pound effectively.
Redd has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
French is working to get back to half guard.
Redd avoids the attempt from French to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
French wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Redd.
French is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Redd throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
French blocking the ground and pound.
Redd landing strikes from the mount.
Redd trying to control but French is having none of it.
Redd is in the full mount, landing strikes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kodiyak Redd dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

French jabbing away but nothing is landing.
French is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Redd.
Redd tries to counter with a takedown but French is quick to defend against it.
Redd with a lazy takedown attempt
and French cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Redd blocks a jab.
Redd throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
French connects with the punch.
French swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Redd.
French fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Redd looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
French scores with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Redd just misses with a punch to the body.
French fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Redd manages to avoid it.
French stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
French misses the body punch

and Redd counters with a nice double leg into side control. French won't be happy with that.

That's one minute gone in the round.
French is not content to let Redd control the position.
Redd misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Redd tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Redd has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Redd tries to advance to mount but French denies him.
Sloppy strikes there by Redd.
Redd trying to control the action but French is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Redd in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... French is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kodiyak Redd!
A relieved looking Kodiyak Redd thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
