PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bang Hwan Sang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Can Tun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bang Hwan Sang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Can Tun!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tun.
Tun throws a head kick that half lands.
Sang rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tun moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sang misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sang doesn't manage to clinch there - Tun circles away.
Sang ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A right-left combo lands from Sang.


It looks like Can Tun has been cut.
Sang throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Tun stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sang throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sang lands a nice hook to Tun's body. Tun takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Bang Hwan Sang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sang throws a nice looking combination but Tun bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sang throws and low kick but Tun moves out of range easily.
Sang misses with a few strikes there.

Sang lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Sang goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Sang looks to land a combination. Tun sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Sang gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sang drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Sang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tun wants to clinch up but Sang keeps it at a distance.

Tun drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sang tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Tun working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sang's head.
Sang keeping moving, preventing Tun from controlling successfully.
Tun wants to pass the guard but Sang is keeping the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tun shoots in but Sang avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sang throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tun looks to clinch
and Sang counters with a one-two to the body.
Sang misses with a leg kick.
Tun tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Tun shoots for a takedown but Sang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bang Hwan Sang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Can Tun.
Tun avoids a punch combination nicely.
A thudding body kick lands there by Tun!
Sang misses with the combination.
Tun scoring well with a low kick there.
Sang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tun drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sang tries to bench press Tun off him but Tun keeps the position.
Tun wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sang keeps working.
The strikes coming from Tun are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Tun tries for a kimura but Sang is defending well.
Tun is looking to take a break and control but Sang is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Can Tun's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sang throws a series of punches but Tun moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sang takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Tun shoots in for a takedown but Sang shows good takedown defense.
Tun closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sang circles away.
Bang Hwan Sang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Can Tun.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tun shoots for a double leg takedown but Sang sprawls well. He's pushed Tun's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sang wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Tun tries to pull guard but Sang won't allow it.

Sang wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sang is pressed up against the cage. Tun has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sang down to the mat. Sang avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tun swats away the attempt to clinch by Sang.
Bang Hwan Sang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tun throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sang's waist but Sang gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tun off to one side.

Sang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tun on the ground.

Sang holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Sang works over Tun's head and body with a nice combination.
Tun fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Tun stuffs the takedown.
Sang throws a right and a left that both miss.
Tun fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Tun shoots for a takedown but Sang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Tun counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Sang stuffs the takedown attempt from Tun. Tun gets slowly back to his feet.
Sang throws a right hand that Tun ducks under and follows up with a left that Tun also avoids with ease.
Sang is looking to wear down Tun with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Sang swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

and Tun counters with an inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Can Tun will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Sang is in all sorts of trouble here.

Tun is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sang has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Tun looking to control but Sang is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Sang is looking to improve his position but Tun isn't that keen on the idea.

Tun wants to control the pace but Sang is squirming around nicely.
Sang tries to reverse the position but Tun maintains control.

Sang on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sang tries to get out of the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sang is trying desperately to improve position.

Tun tries to control but Sang wriggling away.
Sang is trying to stand but he's just given Tun his back.
Will Tun go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Sang is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Sang defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Tun's arms.
Sang controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Sang covers up after that shot from Tun.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sang trying to get back to his feet but Tun is in full control for now.
Sang is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Sang is trying to stand back up.
You can see the frustration on Sang's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Can Tun comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tun has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
