Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michel Santos (ranked 4847 p4p, 4856 weight class) and Diego Garrido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michel Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Diego Garrido!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos shoots in and drives through. Garrido sprawls well.
Santos shoots for a double leg takedown but Garrido sprawls well. He's pushed Santos's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Santos misses the target.

Garrido takes the fight into the clinch.
Santos is trying to pull guard but Garrido turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Santos tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Garrido smiles and moves away.
Garrido shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Santos as he avoids it easily.

Santos wants to work for an arm triangle but Garrido is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Garrido is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Santos's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Santos's back!

Garrido is not going to allow Santos to sit and survive in this position.

Garrido is persistently looking for the submission but Santos is defending it well.

Garrido doesn't have the hooks in and Santos manages to turn into his guard.

Santos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Garrido looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Garrido looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Garrido!

Santos tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Garrido just stands there and leans against the cage.

Garrido misses with a knee strike.

Garrido pulls guard effortlessly.

Garrido pushes Santos off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Garrido ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Garrido no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Santos is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Garrido is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Garrido has escaped and now he's on top!

Santos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Garrido doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Garrido manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Santos manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Garrido manages to get himself to full guard.


Santos thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Michel Santos will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Santos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Garrido manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Santos has Garrido in his guard.

Santos has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Garrido looking to sit in guard and control but Santos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Garrido manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The referee calls for Garrido to work.
Garrido digs a right hand underneath Santos's ribcage. Santos let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Santos fails to pull guard.
Diego Garrido has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Garrido has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Santos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michel Santos showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
