Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Muchy Cartwright (ranked 828 p4p, 1659 weight class) and Murtaz Vatsadze (ranked 120 p4p, 237 weight class). Cartwright's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mauled. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Muchy Cartwright! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Murtaz Vatsadze! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vatsadze misses the jab. Cartwright gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Still in the clinch, Cartwright scores with a nice short uppercut. Cartwright misses with a punch on the inside.
A short right from Vatsadze on the inside. Cartwright pushes off an throws an elbow but Vatsadze leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. A right hand to the body from Cartwright.
Cartwright tries to score a body lock takedown but Vatsadze shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Our sources have told us that Cartwright has been working on his elbows in the gym. Cartwright blocks an uppercut.

Vatsadze manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Cartwright is stalling in the full guard. Cartwright seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vatsadze for as long as he can get away with.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cartwright postures up and lands a big shot to Vatsadze's brow. Cartwright passes Vatsadze's left leg - he's now in half guard. Cartwright keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Vatsadze really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cartwright. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cartwright working the head and body with strikes. That's two minutes gone in the round. Cartwright's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cartwright thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cartwright lands a nice short elbow. Cartwright thows a huge punch but Vatsadze dodges it nicely.
Cartwright uses his free foot to push down on Vatsadze's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vatsadze. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vatsadze can do anything to dispel that myth. Cartwright landing strikes from the mount. Cartwright thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cartwright with shots to the head and body - Vatsadze looks very uncomfortable down there. Cartwright looking to control and managing it successfully. Vatsadze holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Cartwright tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cartwright cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cartwright cracks Vatsadze with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cartwright lands a big shot there that rocks Vatsadze but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Poor strikes thrown by Cartwright there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Vatsadze is rocked! Cartwright looking to finish Vatsadze with some ground and pound. This is bad for Vatsadze! Vatsadze is still in real trouble! Can Cartwright finish him? Vatsadze takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Cartwright's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Muchy Cartwright! Muchy Cartwright got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
