Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Origen Alexandria (ranked 2381 p4p, 3582 weight class) and Mark Hughes (ranked 309 p4p, 432 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes lands with a nice combination. Alexandria backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Origen Alexandria has been cut.
Alexandria ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hughes moves away.
Hughes misses with a combination
and Alexandria counters with a low kick, right behind Hughes 's knee.
Hughes looks to throw the jab but Alexandria is out of range.
A quick step to the side and Alexandria tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alexandria clinches up with Hughes and pushes him back against the cage.
Hughes looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Hughes throws a head punch that misses.
Alexandria scores with an uppercut up the middle.

and Alexandria counters with a straight right hand.
Hughes closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Hughes is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Alexandria pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Alexandria's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hughes will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hughes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hughes is working for a kimura but Alexandria is defending it quite comfortably.

Alexandria is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hughes pulls his head out easily.
Hughes wants to free his trapped foot but Alexandria is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hughes content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Alexandria has locked up a guillotine! Alexandria's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Hughes is holding on here and Alexandria must be using up a lot of energy. Hughes has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Alexandria gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
