Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Balagot Liu (ranked 301 p4p, 347 weight class) and Calixto Cardona (ranked 40 p4p, 43 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Balagot Liu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Calixto Cardona!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Cardona misses the target.
A telegraphed right hand from Liu misses the target.
Cardona avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cardona looks for the body kick but Liu saw that one coming.
Liu throws a poor cross that misses
and Cardona counters with a straight right hand.
Cardona fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Liu manages to avoid it.
Cardona closes the distance and clinches.
Liu has a couple of punches blocked by Cardona.
Cardona lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Liu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cardona avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cardona only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Cardona cracks Liu with a good jab.
Cardona slips under a jab from Liu.
Cardona swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Liu counters with a nice uppercut.
Cardona misses with a straight right.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A head kick misses from Cardona.
Cardona thows a left - swing and a miss!
Liu appears to be looking for a big counter.
Liu looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Liu slips under a jab from Cardona.
Cardona lets loose with a powerful body kick. Liu will feel that in the morning.
Liu lands a jab.
Liu staying out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cardona scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Liu doesn't seem bothered though.
Cardona swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Liu takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Cardona bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Liu's head backwards.
Cardona throws a looping overhand right but Liu ducks down to avoid it.
Liu lands with an uppercut that bounces Cardona off the cage and back into range.
Cardona fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Liu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A swing and a miss from Cardona.
Cardona takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Cardona moves out of range as Liu strikes.
Cardona throws a hook to the side of Liu's head but Liu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
As Cardona backs away, Liu returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Liu avoids a kick to the body.
Cardona fails with an attempt to clinch.
Liu takes one on the button.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cardona throws a quick inside leg kick.
Cardona looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Cardona defending well as Liu loads up on a big left hand.
Liu just misses with a punch to the body.
Cardona's corner calls for a 1-2. Cardona obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Liu moves into range and connects with a jab.
Cardona is rocked!
Liu is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Cardona flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Cardona is out cold! Liu holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Balagot Liu!
Balagot Liu seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
