PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kickboxing Boi (ranked 4583 p4p, 4741 weight class) and Uintingle Callanderity (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kickboxing Boi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Uintingle Callanderity!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Callanderity shoots in for a takedown but Boi shows good takedown defense.
Boi connects with a single shot there.
Boi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Callanderity feints the counter takedown.
Callanderity looks for a takedown but Boi sprawls well.
Boi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Callanderity's head.

Callanderity shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Callanderity showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Callanderity throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Callanderity is nestled in close to Boi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Boi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Callanderity escapes and gets back to his feet.

Boi gets tackled into the cage by Callanderity. Callanderity maintains the clinch.
Boi wants to get back to striking at distance but Callanderity won't allow it.
Callanderity drops down looking for an ankle pick but Boi pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kickboxing Boi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Uintingle Callanderity.
Callanderity fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Boi turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes from Boi. Those never looked like landing.
Boi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Callanderity swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Boi misses with a two punch combination.
Callanderity fails to land the takedown.
Boi wants to land a leg kick but Callanderity is out of range.
Boi tries to clinch up but Callanderity circles away and keeps his distance.
Callanderity takes a swing at Boi's ribcage but misses.
Boi clobbers Callanderity with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Callanderity takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Callanderity avoids the body shot from Boi.
Callanderity throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boi tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice takedown defense from Boi. No joy for Callanderity on that attempt.
Nice uppercut there from Boi.
Boi blocks a head kick by Callanderity.
Boi tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Callanderity manages to circle out of the way.
Callanderity looks winded!
Callanderity avoids a punch combination nicely.
Callanderity shoots in for a double leg but Boi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Left hook, right uppercut from Boi.
Boi falls off balance throwing a combination

and Callanderity counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Callanderity.
Boi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Callanderity gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
A frustrated look appears on Boi's face as he tries to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Callanderity just leaning against Boi, taking a breather.
Boi working hard to break the clinch.
Callanderity is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Boi to keep the fight standing.

Callanderity pulls guard successfully.
Boi tries to stand but Callanderity is controlling from the bottom.

Callanderity working for a triangle but Boi defends it easily.
Callanderity has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Boi wants to get up but he can't break Callanderity's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kickboxing Boi dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Boi scores with a three punch combo!
Boi moves in looking to clinch but Callanderity pushes him off.
Boi sets himself, and Callanderity steps forward looking for the clinch! Boi avoids it this time.
Some wild striking there from Boi.
Callanderity shoots in but no luck this time.
Kickboxing Boi is winning the standup battle so far.
A nice combination there by Boi.
Callanderity misses with a few strikes there.
Boi misses with a leg kick

so Callanderity counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Callanderity is stalling in the full guard.
Callanderity is standing up over Boi. Boi looks to escape but Callanderity dives into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Callanderity tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Callanderity has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Callanderity is putting a hurting on Boi here, landing some big shots from side control.
The referee asks Callanderity politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Callanderity prefers to stall for the moment though.
Boi is trying to control Callanderity's posture but Callanderity avoids it.

Callanderity decides to stand up, so the ref orders Boi to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Boi scores with a jab to the head.
Boi lands with a slapping head kick.
Nice takedown defense from Boi. No joy for Callanderity on that attempt.

Callanderity moves into the clinch.
Boi trying to stall but Callanderity improves his position.
Boi tries for a takedown. No joy.
Boi fails to pull guard.

Callanderity escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Callanderity has closed the distance and engaged Boi in a clinch.
Boi looking to slow down the pace here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Callanderity turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Callanderity manages to end up in side control.
Boi is looking to get back to his feet here but Callanderity is keeping cool and he's managed to take Boi's back.
Callanderity lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Boi tries to escape the position.

Callanderity looking to break Boi's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Boi remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Callanderity will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
I would not like to be Boi right now.
Boi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Callanderity on the ground.

Callanderity is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Callanderity biding his time, controlling Boi.
Callanderity throwing damaging strikes from the back! Boi could be in trouble here!
Boi is trying to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Uintingle Callanderity showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Boi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Boi moves in looking to clinch but Callanderity pushes him off.
Boi throws a solid leg kick but Callanderity takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Boi.
Callanderity shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Boi pinned against the cage. Boi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A head kick misses from Boi.
Horrible takedown attempt by Callanderity or perhaps it was just good defense by Boi, which made it look bad.
Boi is looking to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boi swings away with a body shot that misses
enabling Callanderity to counter with a crisp jab.
Callanderity has a takedown stuffed.
Kickboxing Boi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Uintingle Callanderity.
Boi connects with a right hand. Callanderity shakes it off.

Boi turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Boi connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Callanderity's hands.
Callanderity looks for a takedown but Boi sprawls well.
Callanderity takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boi throws a left and a right that both miss
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
A nice combination there by Boi.

Callanderity moves into the clinch.
Boi tries to pull guard but Callanderity holds him up against the cage and eventually Boi drops back down to his feet.

Callanderity jumps guard.
Callanderity wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Callanderity is proving hard to escape from.
Boi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Callanderity pulls Boi in close to prevent any damage.
Callanderity throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Boi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Callanderity swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Callanderity manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Boi manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Callanderity forces his way into half guard.
Callanderity takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Callanderity lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Callanderity throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boi wants to stand back up but Callanderity manages to pass into side control.
Callanderity postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Boi trying to remain calm as Callanderity controls from the top position.
Boi takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Callanderity working the head with strikes.

Callanderity is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Boi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Boi trying to control but Callanderity flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

And that's the end of the fight!
Uintingle Callanderity comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Callanderity has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
