Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gideon Navarro (ranked 476 p4p, 303 weight class) and Keisuke Matsuzaka (ranked 73 p4p, 50 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Keisuke Matsuzaka enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 40 - 23 - 1, fighting out of New York, Gideon Navarro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Keisuke Matsuzaka!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Navarro's jab looks to have found its range, popping Matsuzaka under the eye.
Matsuzaka misses the jab.
Navarro throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Matsuzaka on the side of the head.
Matsuzaka throws a jab when Navarro was well out of range.
Navarro tries to land a front kick but Matsuzaka steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Navarro works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Navarro lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Navarro tries to clinch up.
Matsuzaka throws out a loose jab but Navarro uses good head movement to avoid it.

Matsuzaka takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Navarro pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Navarro throws a sloppy head kick and Matsuzaka moves out of range easily.
Matsuzaka tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Navarro was well out of range. Poor timing from Matsuzaka.

Navarro rushes Matsuzaka and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Matsuzaka breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Matsuzaka has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Navarro stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Matsuzaka misses with a lunging right hand
and Navarro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A slow jab from Navarro misses its intended target.
Navarro fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Navarro lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Navarro.

Matsuzaka steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Navarro avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Navarro cracks Matsuzaka with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Matsuzaka appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Navarro scores with the left hand. Matsuzaka knows he should have avoided that one.
It looks like Navarro has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Matsuzaka is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Navarro.

Navarro is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Navarro is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Matsuzaka.
Matsuzaka displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Navarro throws out the jab.

A nice side step and Matsuzaka releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Navarro connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Navarro sizes up Matsuzaka with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Matsuzaka bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Navarro fails with an attempt to clinch.
Navarro scores with a jab. Matsuzaka acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Navarro lands with a straight right. Matsuzaka didn't see that one coming.

Matsuzaka takes a jab right on the kisser.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Navarro has taken the fight to the clinch.
Matsuzaka blocks an uppercut.
Navarro tries to pull guard but Matsuzaka forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Navarro fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Navarro misses with a punch on the inside.
Navarro fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gideon Navarro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Matsuzaka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Navarro misses with a hook. Matsuzaka ducked under it nicely.

Navarro thows a left - swing and a miss!
Matsuzaka slips under a jab.
Navarro pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Navarro throws an overhand right that lands on Matsuzaka's shoulder, as Matsuzaka tries to avoid the shot.
A chopping leg kick lands by Matsuzaka.
Matsuzaka drops his hands momentarily and Navarro takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Navarro lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Matsuzaka drops Navarro with a beautiful combination! Navarro stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Matsuzaka is looking for the KO!

Matsuzaka cracks Navarro with a brutal left hook that knocks him out cold! This one is over in a flash! Game over!

Keisuke Matsuzaka tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
